Once upon a time on the tropical island of “Samui”…
Dr. Surachart Nunbhakdi, was somewhat of a rebel at the prestigious Mahidol University. A 1960s student ‘activist’ and elite athlete, after graduation, he traveled south by bus, then boat, to the then remote island of “Samui” to work in a small state-run hospital equipped with minimum essentials. At times, the only doctor on duty not only cured tooth aches, but delivered babies as well!
Back in Bangkok and for twelve years thereafter, Dr. Surachart worked in one of the country’s busiest government hospitals, Ramathibodhi, also a university hospital. With patient inflows in the hundreds daily, he treated a wide spectrum of oral health problems including rare diseases and oral side-effects stemming from systemic health issues. He also lectured at the university.
In 1990, he was recruited by the privately-run Rama 9 Hospital to setup their dental unit and lead the department team. A prestigious post, it was an offer difficult to refuse. He stayed for fourteen years before leaving to fulfill a lifelong dream.
This is where our story begins...
Dr. Surachart creates an independent dental practice with the sole purpose of providing patients and their families with the best care, free of the financial demands frequently imposed by large commercial ventures.
Pacific Dental Care was opened in August 2007 in the center of Bangkok on Sukhumvit Road Soi 39. In a very short time, it has flourished with the support of a loyal patient following, neighboring locals and international communities – all of whom we consider ‘privileged’ to serve. |
